Calling all Technology Transfer Offices

New and modified cell lines generated by universities and not for profit organisations are key in enabling ECACC to expand and keep its cell line collections relevant to the current needs of life science research. Over many years ECACC has established valued relationships with many technology transfer organisations including Wellcome TrustXimbio, Cambridge Enterprises Ltd, Imperial Innovations and LifeArc (formerly MRCtechnology) to name a few. Working closely together has provided many benefits for both partners.

For ECACC having access through one portal to many new cell line deposits from many laboratories within an organisation has greatly increased the efficiency of making available new cell lines to life science researchers. Although these cell lines are distributed strictly for research use only, our business development team often receives commercial licencing requests which are passed on immediately to the relevant owner or technology transfer office.

The numbers of these requests are enhanced by ECACC’s truly global shop window resulting from supplying through distribution partners Merck (formerly Sigma-Aldrich), KAC Co. Ltd  (Japan) and Cell Bank Australia.
