Exporting our products

This page details some useful information for customers outside of the United Kingdom purchasing products subject to export restrictions.

CITES (Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora)

ECACC cell lines that are derived from species included in Appendices of CITES will require a CITES Export Permit for the product to leave the United Kingdom. Customers may also be required to have their own CITES Import Permit (see above).

ECACC will apply for a CITES Export Permit on the customer’s behalf if they are based outside of the United Kingdom. The cost of applying for this permit will be invoiced to the customer. Please see the Delivery Charges section of our website for current pricing.

Please note UK export applications take approximately 6 weeks.

All CITES products will be dispatched to the customs clearing airport nearest to the customer. Therefore, the customer will need to arrange for a Customs Clearance Agent to aid clearance of the shipment and arrange for collection and onward delivery of the consignment. Culture Collections will provide each customer with the necessary information to enable timely collection of your order from customs (e.g. airway bill number and flight details).

For customers in those countries party to the convention, please contact your in-country CITES Management Authority for assistance concerning CITES shipments. More information on each country’s CITES Management Authority can be found in the National Authorities section of the CITES website.

Export Health Certificates

Several receiving territories will require Export Health Certificates to be issued by the Animal & Plant Health Agency certifying that the ECACC product being imported into that country meets their health requirements. Please check with your in-country agency as to whether or not an Export Health Certificate is required. If an Export Health Certificate is required, Culture Collections will apply for it on the customer’s behalf. Please see the Delivery Charges section of our website for the current pricing for applying for an Export Health Certificate.

Several countries’ customs and import regulation authorities require supporting documents for Culture Collections products such as Manufacturer’s Declarations or Certificates of Origin. Please check with your in-country agency as to whether or not this is required.

Please note: The required wording of the Manufacturer’s Declaration may be specified by the customs and import agency, to prevent any delays please provide Culture Collections with this wording.
