Cell Line Description

Spontaneously transformed cells from a female patient with neuroblastoma. The tumour was derived from a bone marrow metastasis and is tumourigenic in nude mice. Used in the study of MIBG uptake in the diagnosis and treatment of neuroblastoma. MIBG is a derivative of the antihypertensive agent guanethidine and is used as a radiopharmaceutical. SK-N-DZ is characterised by low saturable kinetics and predominant linear pattern of uptake of MIBG, with a poor ability to maintain high intracellular levels of the drug.
